Don and family, we are so sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family. As you know, I have gone through this and lost both of our parents, the recent was my mother last January. I know that you (as we do) take solace in the fact that we know that our parents loved us and that there were no unspoken words. Also, we believe that God takes people from this Earth at the right time so they can have the Power to help those of us that remain on Earth continuing to live our lives as our parents taught us. They are not gone but remain watching over us and are our guardian angels guiding us throughout the remaining days of our lives until we join them when it is our time. I know your Mom (and Dad) remain around us in a way that we could never understand but know that they are with more power than they ever had on Earth. And, take solace in the fact that there is no more pain nor heartache that they feel. They have gone home from where they came. I want to share this (below) from the homily that the pastor gave at my Mom's funeral. I think it says it all as it does apply to all who pass.
"The theologian James Alison once remarked of some friends that had passed from this life to the next. He said: “I hope to know them again in heaven.” I hope to know them again in heaven. Yes, all of us gathered here, share that same hope that we will know – and love and live with with our loved ones again – again back in our true homeland, heaven.
Also, we all wonder why God made us....God made us to know Him and love Him in this world and to be happy with Him forever in heaven. Mission accomplished!"
