Many, many people will miss Hub. Especially his family, friends, those he served in the village of Angola, and all the village of New York State where he served as a member of the board of directors for the New York Council of Mayors. A true friend who helped me in my formative years as mayor of East Aurora and quite the sidekick. May you say hello to all those who went before us Hub and say hi to everyone. Godspeed good friend. I was saddened to hear of the passing of Hub Frawley, one of my closest childhood friends. While growing up in the 1950s and early 1960s, Hub (we called him Hubba) lived next door on Glenwood Avenue. We played together almost daily in the 50s. Here are just a few of my fond memories of Hubba.
During the winters after a snow storm, we would always go out sledding down Dellwood Avenue. For the best sledding, we had to time it just right, after the snow plow cleared the deep snow from the street, and before the cinder truck spread the cinders on the street, ruining the sledding. Here is a picture from 1955. From left to right: Denny Kingan, Paul Rogers, Patsy Kingan, Hubba, and me, Bobby Kingan.
During the 1950's, new houses were being built on Terrylynn Drive. Hubba and I were scavenging wood and building shacks in our back yards. We each tried to outdo the other, and soon we had a period of time we called "shack wars." We would attack each other's shack and then rebuild. One day, I remember Hubba searching through his father's pants pockets in the closet, gathering enough change to buy new wood at Ehmke's lumber company on Lake Street.
Finally, I remember one snowy winter evening, having a snow ball fight. The snow was falling in big wet flakes, ideal for packing and throwing snow balls. We did this for almost an hour and then warmed ourselves by an outside fire left by the house building contractor who was clearing trees and burning the brush piles. We stoked up the fire and enjoyed the beautiful snow fall by the warmth of a blazing fire.
I will always remember Hubba, my childhood friend

"Hub". His nick name says a lot about who he was, the hub of our community. He cared for with his whole heart and did so much for Angola. He will long be remembered. I have missed seeing him, talking with him, enjoying coffee with him. Christmas Lights in Angola will never be the same, nor will be putting them up each year.
I ask a question once about Hub, the answer was the most loving words "He makes me laugh".
My condolences Marge, to his family, his many friends and his/our community.
Watch over us Hub as you have for many years.
Your Friend

Hubba will be missed by many. None more than me to be sure. Although we weren't as close as in the past, we still were good friends. Back in the day though, we were together quite a bit - bowling, softball & the DuDrop Inn to mention some. we always had a good time. I was his Best man & he was mine. Always had a good time. Life is too short but always remember Hub for what he was - a very good friend !

I don't know if you remember that when I was student teaching in 1995- I was placed with you at Waugh.
I remember you always talking about Hubba with a smile and telling me how handsome he was with a great
head of gray hair. Fast forward many years and I had a few encounters with him because of my husband Frank.
He was definitely a man of class and was deeply respected and loved by the community. I hope that you can look at all that he accomplished - the legacy that he left behind, and smile. Your love for each other will live on in those memories.
xoxo
