I know Pastor Smardz "moons" ago from the former church of Cold Spring Church of God In Christ located on Verplanck & Woodlawn Sts. in Buffalo, New York....there at Cold Spring Church of God.&.Christ/Redeeming Love Fellowship he taught spoke the Holy Scriptures and his time and service with the Buffalo Police Department.
My prayers of love and condolences go out to his family, and church parishioners at Southtowns Christian Center. He had a profound calling on his life to minister the Word. I recall he said he patrolled the Cold Spring area when he was a police officer. Wow! he came to my mind along with the Ministry of Cops for Christ todayTuesday, 6/6/2023....It has been at least over 20 years. He will always be remembered @ Cold Spring/Redeeming Love Church in Buffalo, NY

Tom was a man in whom one could trust one's life, as I did many times. My sincerest condolences go out to tom's beautiful wife Shirley and their family. You will be missed my friend, sleep in peace brother.

Dear Pastor Shirley, Pastor Tommy, Tracie, Kevin and grandchildren. I am so sorry to hear of Bishop Tom's home going. You are in my heart, thoughts and prayers.
Bishop Tom was a great man of God. He was a
inspiration to all who knew him. Such a gentle soul. I only regret that I only knew this wonderful man for such a short time. How I loved and respected Bishop Tom . The joy of my week was to welcome them at the door and share a table each Fri with Pastor Shirley, and Bishop Tom in Sandy's bible study class. I felt so blessed to have been able to call him Bishop and friend. And Pastor Shirley taught my first bible study cIass at SCC. She is so close in my heart right now.
Surely a star danced in heaven... knowing Bishop Tom was coming home! How greatly he is loved will be missed.
Don't worry about Pastor Shirley, Bishop Tom! We will all be giving her love, hugs, support, prayers and what ever she needs. Remember, you taught us well how to love!!

Pastor Tom married my wife Laura and myself in the original little white church 34 years ago today. It was the first wedding he conducted at South Towns Christian center. It was a wonderful service and He was always a great Pastor to us all and I know he is rejoicing above with our son Johnny. May God bless Tim, Laura, Justin and Lauren Murphy

In the old little white church during Bible study Pastor Tom called out a knee is being healed! That was me and my left knee messed up from a ski accident hitting a tree. Still healed decades later. Just 1 of a thousand memories.

To my family and friends of Bishop Thomas Smardz, Sr. There aren't enough words to write that would explain the depth of love, service, commitment, and dedication that Bishop expressed. From the first visit that I remember until my last... over 34 years the Smardz family has treated me like family. I know that all stemmed from Bishop and Mom (Shirly). I gleaned so much from the examples that he displayed... from teaching/preaching the Word of God, loving his family, devotion to the community, and eating original buffalo wings (blue cheese dipping sauce); Bishop was and will remain one of a kind. Thank you Momma Shirly for sharing him with us all. You and your family may never really know the impact that Bishop has made in so many of our lives.
With a sad heart his presence will be missed. Through Faith and Hope we believe he is no longer in pain, no longer constrained, and has been granted total freedom. Rejoice with the angels in Heaven that he has received his crown.
From your family in Virginia -
Rev. Aaron Maurice & Keletha Russell

I met Bishop Tom 7 years prior to my going to southtown's Christian center. Where I would be in attendance for 10 years. Bishop, Tom and I had many nice chats. When he was a police officer. He just happened to be my uncle's partner. I always loved Bishop, Tom and I always will. God bless you man of God. Well done thy good and faithful servant. Well done.
